While drafting the outline of this book, I’ve second guessed so much. There are points that I want to make which prompt me to go back and to reread or finish reading other books. And, that’s to say nothing of all of the books that you are going to tell me that I need to read — and I am very interested in those recommendations. So, tell me.
I’m not going to stop the presses, though. And, I know that there is a risk associated with the decision to just hammer this all out and put it out in the world. Not enough people know who I am for me to be cancelled in any really meaningful way — but I know that a lot of what I have to say is unpopular. Having some of these conversations on social media has cost me friends.
And it hurts.
Knowing that I’m taking that risk, I hope you understand that I am taking that risk for personal and collective growth. I anticipate that there will be many sections of this book that I wish never saw the light of day in five years — emotionally I’ll wish that. In truth, though, I am quite dedicated to improving. Getting to that point where I look back on this and see more clearly and deeply than I can currently imagine is the point. Going there together is the adventure.
So, here’s what I need from you. Whatever I’ve overlooked, whatever I’ve failed to consider, whatever my blind spots are, point them out. Otherwise, we all become more separate. If you see it and you don’t say something, then what do you feel when you see me? And, how much chance is there that you’ll engage a friend or family member with the same outlook? And if you won’t speak your mind to me but you’ll share your thoughts with someone else (who might well know that I’m virtually pleading with you for your insight and correction), what are they going to think that you’re saying about them to other people? And if you see something amiss with my thinking and don’t say anything about it to anyone, how will that affect your confidence in yourself? Unless this is conversation, how will anyone benefit at all?
So tell me what you think. You can get a hold of me through sqglz.com or on social media @deaconrodda and wherever you find SQGLZ.
That’s the deal. I pour hundreds of hours into a manuscript, and you tell me if I’m full of shit. More realistically, you tell me where I’m full of shit. Because, I don’t think there’s a chance that I just nailed it all right out of the gate. And, if you think that I’m just wrong about all of it, then yeah, you should probably just not say anything. One of us is obviously a lost cause.
And, if I’m not full of shit about at least half of this, there’s really a lot that we can do together to design sovereignty in our lives, organizations, and communities.
Let’s get to it.
